My vision is to Connect the Community of Apex through a Collaborative effort with our very talented Citizens.  We have an extremely large and diverse talent pool residing here in Apex. I strongly believe we need to bring together the talent and skills of our residents to promote business development and to instill a greater sense of community. Being fiscally responsible in conjunction with common sense decision making is also important to carry out these objectives. Using this approach will serve to further enhance the quality of life in which our town is nationally recognized.

One of the prime destinations in Apex is our historic downtown district.  The Town should preserve this crown jewel, as well as explore new ideas that will enhance its appeal for the next generation.  As we plan for the future, we to be diligent in our efforts to maintain a healthy and balanced approach to growth. Residential housing should be available for first time home buyers as well as active seniors.  Collaborating with the Council and staff, I will continue to focus on increasing our commercial tax base by encouraging our Economic Development department to recruit new industries.  At the same time, I will support existing businesses while working with the Chamber of Commerce. Developing more opportunities that will enable our citizens to live, work and play in Apex is one of my top priorities.

Being named the #1 place to live in the country says a great deal about the quality of life in Apex.  It is important to maintain this status through our Public Safety Departments as well as our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. I will work with the Council and staff to promote the need for connectivity of our greenways, sidewalks and bike paths.  Our parks should provide places for our families to gather, our youth and adults to play and practice, as well as a venue for tournaments that will lead to increased revenue for Apex.

Our town should be a place where our citizens know they are part of a safe, vibrant and connected community.   Through collaboration and commitment Apex will remain the NUMBER ONE place to live in the United States.

The role of mayor is unique among the council, requiring vision, leadership and experience.

Vision: I have observed Apex growth for 40+ years. I see where we’re headed. Governing in Apex for 10 years has giving me the necessary experience to establish a 2035 vision for Apex. As mayor, I will codify that vision in my first 30 days. A sustainable growth management plan is a top priority.

Leadership: I was endorsed into Cisco’s Leadership Training Program. I earned my MBA, with top honors. I now run a small business where I put business skills into practice daily. As mayor, I will lead by establishing 20-year targets, breaking them down into objectives, making sure we are pursuing the most critical issues, and holding people accountable. I will consolidate council member objectives and promote open government by calling for annual town hall forums.

Experience:: After 15 years as a software engineer, I moved into project, budget and people management. I’ve managed sensitive schedules, multi-million dollar budgets, and direct reports. As mayor, I will hold staff accountable for quality project execution, transparent spending, and top-notch staffing as Apex grows.
